ALICANTE RECOGNIZED AS TOP 10 GLOBAL FAMILY DESTINATION

British Airways, has ranked Alicante among the top ten global destinations to travel with children. This announcement follows a comprehensive study in which the airline surveyed 200,000 British parents who had vacationed abroad with their offspring.

The study evaluated various factors like the quality of accommodations, restaurant options, local attractions, and child-friendly activities. Alicante-Elche Airport reportedly hosted 1,500,278 passengers in May alone, underscoring the popularity of the region.

Alicante was praised for its rich history, with a continuous habitation spanning over 7,000 years. Consequently, the city boasts numerous historical attractions such as the Santa Barbara Castle and the Old Town. Also, the broader Alicante province was mentioned, highlighting attractions like the Aqua Natura in Benidorm, which provides numerous child-friendly activities.

The list created by British Airways is topped by Krakow, Lisbon, and Dubai, with the first Spanish destination, Tenerife, ranking sixth. Alicante proudly secured the tenth spot on this esteemed list.

The Alicante City & Beach Tourist Board expressed their enthusiasm for the study. They acknowledged the significance of British Airways and how this ranking can elevate Alicante's international profile, particularly given the importance of British tourists to the region. The board also highlighted that this wasn't Alicante's first recognition as a top family destination, with the region's favourable climate, pristine beaches, and diverse recreational, cultural, and gastronomic offerings regularly drawing praise.

In addition to these attractions, Alicante is home to the region of Marina Baixa, which includes popular destinations like Finestrat. In this scenic location, children can explore Terra Mítica, an extensive theme park filled with adventure and cultural attractions that mimic ancient Mediterranean civilizations. There's also the region's famed Aqualandia water park, a haven for fun-filled, family-friendly activities.

The Alicante region is renowned for its incredible beaches, boasting the highest number of Blue Flag distinctions in Spain. This globally recognized award is given to the world's cleanest and most sustainable beaches, underlining Alicante's commitment to providing visitors with top-quality coastal experiences.
