Based on 2014 statistics, the town had a population of just 1,612. During the holiday season, Moraira's population increases dramatically. Most of the tourists are foreigners. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Spain. Favorable climate, friendly locals, delicious cuisine, a wide range of leisure activities - this is what attracts travelers.
However, the town is not only seen as a holiday destination but also as a place to live permanently.
The municipality of Teulada Moraira is located in the prestigious Marina Alta district. The municipality is very well located, with Benissa only 20 minutes away, Javea, and Calpe only 30 minutes. From Moraira, Altea and Denia can be reached in approximately 35-40 minutes, while Benidorm is about 40-50 minutes away. Alicante can be reached in an hour. The distance to Alicante-Elche Airport is 95 km, so the journey time takes just over 1 hour on average. Valencia can be reached by car in 1.5 hours.
Sandy beaches and coves are available in Moraira for fans of a relaxed seaside holiday. Playa L´Ampolla is a very popular beach with locals and tourists alike. Playa L´Ampolla is a Blue Flag awarded beach, confirming that the waters and coastal areas meet high quality and safety standards. It is 400m long and 50m wide. Les Platgetes is a Moraira beach that has been awarded the Blue Flag a number of times. El Portet, which is 20 m wide and 350 m long, is also rated as one of the best beaches on Costa Blanca. It has also been awarded the Blue Flag. Its peculiarity is its unusual shell shape. El Portet is filled with soft sand and washed by the clearest turquoise-colored water. A beautiful place for recreation is the bay of L´Andrago, which is 150 m long and 50 m wide. Here you can swim in the crystal clear sea.
