Almare — Apartments with Sea Views in La Cala de Mijas

Almare is a new residential development of 48 homes on the hillside above La Cala de Mijas, about a kilometre from the beach. The current release offers thirteen apartments with two or three bedrooms, spread across ground-floor and middle-floor positions plus one two-bedroom penthouse. The buildings are low-rise blocks with lifts, set in landscaped gardens inside a gated perimeter, on a slope that gives the terraces their view over the coast.

The apartments

Every apartment is planned around a large covered terrace reached from the open-plan kitchen and living room; the ground-floor homes add a private garden, and the penthouse a wraparound roof terrace. Kitchens are delivered fully fitted, the main bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, and the specification includes fitted wardrobes, double glazing, hot and cold air conditioning, a storage room and a parking space in the underground garage. Payment is staged: a fifth of the price at the private contract, a further tenth during construction and the balance on completion.

The shared grounds are the reason to choose a development over a single building: a communal pool set into the gardens, lawns and shaded relaxation areas, and a fully equipped gym for residents. Entry-phone access and the gated perimeter cover security.

Location — La Cala de Mijas

La Cala de Mijas is the beach village of Mijas Costa, halfway between Fuengirola and Marbella, with a long sandy beach, a low-rise centre of shops and restaurants, and a Saturday market. Almare sits on the slope above the village, roughly a kilometre from Playa de La Cala and the watchtower of El Torreón, with several golf courses a short drive inland. The A-7 runs just below: Fuengirola is about ten minutes away, Málaga airport around half an hour.
