Property for Sale in Benijófar

Benijófar is a Vega Baja village of under 5,000 people that international buyers discovered without spoiling: a Spanish high street with proper bars, the Segura river park below, La Finca Golf five minutes one way and Guardamar's dune beaches ten minutes the other. New builds start around €250,000.

About Benijófar

Benijófar sits on a low rise above the Segura river in the Vega Baja, twelve kilometres inland from Guardamar del Segura. It is one of the smallest municipalities in the province — under 5,000 residents — and one of the most international: roughly a third of the town is foreign-born, mostly British, Belgian and Scandinavian, yet the village centre has kept its Spanish shape: a church square, a covered market, tapas bars where the menu is still in Spanish first.

Between the golf and the beach

Location is the whole argument. La Finca Golf, one of the south's best championship courses, is a five-minute drive; La Marquesa in neighbouring Ciudad Quesada is barely further. Guardamar's dune-backed beaches — some of the emptiest on the Costa Blanca South — are ten to twelve minutes. Alicante airport is about 35 minutes up the AP-7, and the commercial strip of Ciudad Quesada with its international supermarkets starts two kilometres from the village square.

The property market

Benijófar offers what the coastal towns no longer can: new-build apartments and townhouses from about €250,000 and detached villas with private pools between €465,000 and €600,000 — on a quiet street where you hear Spanish at the bakery. Stock is small and projects are boutique: a handful of units each, built between existing homes rather than in mega-phases.

A high street that works

Benijófar's main street is the point: bakery, pharmacy, hardware shop, a covered market and a line of bar terraces where Spanish and English tables mix. Everything a week needs, on foot.

Golf within ten minutes

La Finca Golf (Algorfa) is the headline course — long, modern, with a five-star resort attached. La Marquesa in Ciudad Quesada is the friendly everyday round, and Vistabella is a fifteen-minute drive. Three courses inside a quarter of an hour.

Guardamar's beaches

Twelve minutes east the Segura meets the sea at Guardamar: kilometres of dune-backed sand that stay uncrowded even in August because they simply do not end. The beach bars of La Mata are just beyond.

The river below

The Segura riverside below the village has been turned into a green corridor — flat walking and cycling paths that run towards Rojales and Formentera del Segura past orchards and reed beds.

Food and fiestas

The village cooks Vega Baja style: rice dishes, huerta vegetables, menú del día under €15. In July the town honours San Jaime, its patron, with a week of street dinners and music; the international community joins rather than watches.

Practical life

Alicante airport is about 35 minutes; the Quesada strip with international supermarkets, clinics and gyms starts two kilometres away; Torrevieja's hospital is twenty minutes. English-speaking services are everywhere — this corner of the Vega Baja has served northern-European residents for decades.

Why Benijófar?

A Village That Stayed a Village

A third of residents are international, yet the church square, the market and the Spanish-first bars are all still here — integration, not a colony.

Ten Minutes to Empty Dune Beaches

Guardamar's pine-and-dune coast is the Costa Blanca's least crowded stretch of sand — and it is your local beach.

Three Golf Courses in 15 Minutes

La Finca (5 min), La Marquesa (6 min) and Vistabella (15 min) — championship golf without golf-resort prices at home.

Coastal Access at Inland Prices

New builds from ~€250,000 and pool villas under €600,000, 35 minutes from Alicante airport — the Vega Baja discount with none of the isolation.

FAQ — Benijófar

Common questions about buying property in Benijófar

A new two- or three-bedroom apartment or duplex — current projects start at €249,900–285,000, several with solarium and shared pool. Detached new villas with private pools run €465,000–600,000. The same money by the coast in Guardamar or Torrevieja buys older stock or a smaller footprint.

About 8 kilometres — ten to twelve minutes by car to Guardamar del Segura's dune beaches, among the widest and least crowded on the Costa Blanca South. La Mata and Torrevieja's town beaches are 15–20 minutes.

One of the best-placed villages in the south: La Finca Golf is five minutes, La Marquesa six, Vistabella fifteen — three championship-length courses within a quarter of an hour, without paying resort premiums for the house itself.

Roughly a third of the municipality is foreign-born — British above all, plus Belgians, Dutch and Scandinavians — and it has been that way for two decades, so services, clinics and clubs in English are mature. Crucially, the village kept its Spanish core: fiestas, the market and the town hall still run on the local calendar.

About 35 minutes by car: AP-7 or N-332 south to the Rojales/Benijófar exit, then five minutes inland on the CV-895. Murcia's Corvera airport is an alternative at around 50 minutes. A car is essential here — that is the trade-off for village prices.
