Mijas Seaviews I is the first of three construction phases in a hillside scheme of 50 apartments in Peñablanquilla, on the slope a little over a kilometre below the white village of Mijas Pueblo. The site faces south-west, and the renders show the terraces looking out over green hills towards Fuengirola and the sea, just under four kilometres away. What sets the buildings apart is the planting: hanging gardens trail down the façades like a green curtain and screen the terraces from one another, and in the visualisations the blocks step down the slope rather than rising as a single mass.

Eleven homes are on offer in this phase — two- and three-bedroom apartments on the ground and middle floors, plus one three-bedroom penthouse. Each has two bathrooms, one of them en suite, and a living and dining area that forms a single open space with the kitchen. A customisation programme lets buyers pick from a catalogue of flooring, tiles, sanitaryware and kitchen finishes, so no two apartments need end up alike. Location — Peñablanquilla, Mijas

Peñablanquilla is a residential pocket of houses and low-rise buildings off the road that climbs from Fuengirola to Mijas Pueblo. Day-to-day shops and services are within about ten minutes by car, and the village is a short drive uphill, with its whitewashed streets, viewpoints and restaurants. Going the other way, the road leads down to Fuengirola: the nearest sand, Playa Torreblanca-Carvajal, is just under four kilometres away, and Fuengirola station is the end of the Cercanías line along the coast to Málaga. The airport is roughly 25 minutes by car.
